Each person will write about a personal connection you have made with your chosen novel. This could be, for example, a character, a place, or a situation that you can relate to in some way. Use your first name and last initial to indicate your contribution.
There are times in my life where I truly felt I should have stepped in and done something. Sadly I was shocked, terrified and just couldn't move. If I could change some things I truly think I would. It saddens me and makes it hard for me to sleep. Just like Amir I get insomnia. I feel lots of guilt for things that have happened. People often tell me to let go that it is not my fault. I don't See it this way. I try to make up for it but it never seems to amount enough to me. I push some people away for reason that are not there fault. I feel in a lot ways I went down the same path that Amir did. Although there are different circumstances. I grew up much different but made some of the same mistakes.BG
I can relate to The Kite Runner because I have made many mistakes that I have tried to make up for. One instance is last year when my grandfather died. I choose to hang out with my friends instead of going to see my grandfather in the hospital because it was my birthday. That night my uncle and my aunt decided to "pull the plug" on my grandfather. My mother called me to tell me that he had died. I cried for days and said that I hated myself. Then I decided to try and make up for it. My grandfather really wanted me to go to college, so I decided that I would try and get into the best college I could. I am still working on trying to make up for it, but I still feel horrible about what happened. Part of me still blames myself and I think that I will blame myself for the rest of my life. I relate to Amir because I made a wrong choice and am paying for it personally, but I am trying to make up for it by doing what I think is right. Emily H.
There have been times where I could have helped someone but instead I did not know what to do so I just let it happen.I have seen people I know get into fights and get beat up but I did nothing about it because I was afraid to get beat up. I just sat back and watched until the fights were over. Sometimes I wish I would stand up for myself more because people are always standing up for me. I always try to make things up for people by trying not to let them get into fights. Sometimes I wish I would just step in and take the fight so I would not have to see my friends get into fights.
