I believe the author wrote this book to teach a lesson. The lesson being you can always try to make things right even though it won’t be perfect and sometimes won’t turn out right. What really matters is that you tried in the end. In the novel the main character is haunted by his actions which caused him to try and make things right in order to have peace.
